Laboratories

Institute Facilities and Equipment

Pilot Plant Hall – equipped with operational machinery for processing (e.g. crushing and grinding) and separating minerals and waste used as secondary raw materials, including magnetic separation, gravity separation and flotation.

Physical Laboratory – equipped for various types of rock sample separation and preparation, including the preparation of samples for quantitative determination of selected elements by atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS), X-ray analysis and infrared spectroscopy, as well as comprehensive silicate analysis.

Chemical Laboratory – equipped for conventional chemical analysis, with a fume hood, two drying ovens, a muffle furnace, a distillation apparatus, a centrifuge, three digital analytical balances with two- and four-decimal-place precision, and other equipment.

Analytical Laboratory – equipped with an atomic absorption spectrometer for the chemical analysis of approximately 20 elements (PerkinElmer, USA).

Surface Characterisation Laboratory – equipped with instruments for examining solid surfaces, including a contact angle measurement instrument and a polarising microscope.

Surface Chemical Analysis Laboratory – equipped with an X-ray photoelectron spectrometer (XPS) for analysing the surface chemistry of particles.

Geomechanics Laboratory and Research Hall – used for tensile and compressive testing of rocks and construction materials.

Engineering Seismology and Blasting Laboratory

Multimedia Laboratory – used to identify tourism and geotourism sites and prepare materials for their presentation and promotion.

LTV Technical Laboratory – equipped for research into renewable energy sources and energy storage.

Earth Resources Extraction Laboratory – equipped with a model of an industrial facility that replicates real operating conditions, together with measuring equipment for recording the spatial positions of objects. Its modelling system enables maps to be converted into 3D models, modified and subsequently used to create virtual representations of objects or scenarios.

PC1 Computer Laboratory – equipped with computers and statistical, economic, simulation and modelling software.
